Okeford suffer opening day defeat

The Butterboys kicked off the new season with a home defeat to Witchampton by a score line of 3-0. A heavy rain storm just before kick off made the very dry surface a bit easier for the ball to move about.

It was the home side that started the brightest, passing the ball well.  Following good movement Olly Chaffey put George Stockton through on the right only for his weak shot to be easily dealt with by the keeper.

The visitors looked dangerous from corners and put the home goal under danger on several occasions.  With time running out and the score looking to be even at half time in what would have been an entertaining 0-0 the visitors struck in the 44th minute with their striker putting the ball in the net from a tight angle.

Tony Wooldridge replaced Lee Gray in goal at half time following an injury.

The Witches scored again on 51 minutes and added another in the 72nd minute.  Olly Chaffey came closest for the home side when his shot beat the keeper but came back off the bar and was cleared.
